Privacy Policy
The short version
Bendy asks for Screen Recording permission because it has to see your desktop to bend it. Every frame is processed on your Mac and thrown away immediately. Nothing is recorded, stored, uploaded, or shared. Bendy has no servers, no analytics, and no accounts. The only thing it ever sends anywhere is your license key, to Polar, to confirm it's real.
Screen Recording permission
macOS requires explicit permission before any app can capture the screen. Bendy uses Apple's ScreenCaptureKit to receive live frames of your built-in display while the effect is running. Those frames exist only in memory, are reprojected by the graphics processor, drawn onto a transparent overlay, and replaced by the next frame. The overlay excludes Bendy's own windows so it never captures itself.
- No frame is written to disk, ever, in any format.
- No frame leaves your Mac. The app's only network requests are the license checks described below.
- Audio capture is disabled. Bendy never requests microphone or system audio access.
- Capture runs only while the desktop effect is enabled or a preview you started is playing. Pausing, closing the lid past the working angle, or quitting stops it.
You can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. Bendy will simply stop working until it is granted again.
Lid angle sensor
Bendy reads the hinge angle from the sensor built into Apple silicon MacBooks. The reading is a single number used to drive the effect. It is not logged or transmitted.
What is stored on your Mac
Only your settings: the chosen style, perspective, blur and shadow amounts, working angle, and whether the effect is enabled. These live in Bendy's standard macOS preferences on your Mac and nowhere else. Deleting the app's preferences or the app removes them.
Purchases
Bendy is sold through Polar, which acts as the merchant of record. When you buy, Polar collects your email address and payment details to process the order, deliver the download, and handle receipts, taxes, and refunds. Bendy never sees your payment details. Polar's handling of your data is described in Polar's privacy policy.
License key
After purchase, Polar emails you a license key. When you enter it, Bendy sends the key, your Mac's name, and a hardware identifier to Polar's public license endpoint to activate it, and quietly re-checks it on launch. That's the only network traffic the app makes. A key works on up to three Macs, and you can free a Mac from the License tab or your Polar purchase page.
If you're offline, an activated key keeps working for two weeks before Bendy needs to confirm it again.
This website
This site is a static page hosted on Vercel. It uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure visits, page views, and referral sources without analytics cookies. Vercel may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, to operate the hosting. Fonts are loaded from rsms.me, which receives a request for the font file.
Children
Bendy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since it collects nothing, there is nothing to delete.
